In 2010, the chamber organised, either alone or in conjunction with the Czech Embassy, a number of events. In July, members were invited to a seminar on tax planning for foreign businesses and no-doms, delivered by partners of UHY Hacker Young. In September, members had the opportunity to attend a symposium 'The Ties That Bind', organised jointly by the Embassies of the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia, and UCL to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Czechoslovak government in exile, with the former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright as keynote speaker.
In September co-operation with the British Chamber of Commerce in Prague bore its first fruit and members of the British Chamber together with our members attended the first joint event, a talk given by Mr Jan Fischer, the former Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, at the Ambassador’s residence. The event was well attended with a number of members of the British Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic, including Executive Director, Richard Robinson. In October, members could enjoy a screening of Jan Hrebejk’s film ‘Kawasaki’s Rose’ at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, organised in cooperation with the Czech Centre in London. And last but not least, the Annual Dinner was held in November and was attended by our Patron, His Excellency Michael Zantovsky.
The programme for 2011 will be discussed at the Annual General Meeting on 28th February.
