Ladislav Hornan - Chairman

Born in Prague, Ladislav came to London in 1968 where he completed his education and professional qualifications. He has specialised in insolvency and corporate recovery since joining UHY Hacker Young in 1974. Elected Managing Partner in 1995, he continues to hold this post; he also held the position of Chairman of UHY International twice, and continues to serve as a Board Director since 1995.

As an Insolvency Practitioner, Ladislav has UK as well as international experience in the assessment of the financial position and viability of businesses in difficulties, of monitoring business progress following the implementation of recovery programmes and of acting as a formal insolvency Office Holder of failed businesses. Additionally, he has experience in dealing with complex fraud cases assisting UK government agencies (SFO and HMRC).  

As Managing Partner for nearly 20 years, Ladislav has gained valuable experience in all aspects of professional services including audit and practice management, regulatory issues and risk management.

Over the years Ladislav has also pursued interests of a charitable nature, and in 2005 he was awarded ‘Gratias Agit’ by the Czech government for promoting the good name of the Czech Republic abroad through his numerous activities, for example, many years of involvement with the English College in Prague.

1989 to date: Treasurer (1989) then Chairman (1993) of the British Czech & Slovak Association, and now President (1998 to 2014), and now Vice-President (UK Registered Charity)

1994-2009: Governor of the English College in Prague (Founded by UK Registered Charity); Vice-Chairman of the Governors in 1999 
1995: Freeman of the City of London and a Member of the Worshipful Company of Upholders (Livery Company)

Lenka Varga Pasku - Executive Secretary 

Lenka was born in Slovakia and started working for UHY Hacker Young alongside Ladislav Hornan in April 2013. Lenka was first helping with organising events and looking after the CBCC membership after Tim Duffill’s departure and was offered to take his place towards the end of 2013.

Since then she has been an active member working with the Executive Committee, helping the CBCC grow and attract new members to create a strong community of Czechs and Britons interested in the Czech Republic.

For several years Lenka has only worked and supported CBCC from the background due to family circumstances but decided to come back officially in 2020 and take the Honorary Secretary position to support the Chamber.





Tereza Urbankova - PR & Communications

Tereza is a PR, communications and marketing professional with over 18 years of experience and proven success in industries such as hospitality, retail, IT, defence, broadcast, logistics and engineering. At the start of her career, Tereza also worked at the Diplomatic Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Over the years, Tereza has delivered several award-winning communications programmes and successful projects in the areas of internal/external communications, media relations, social media management, brand management, online marketing, crisis communications, acquisitions, culture change, employee engagement, and others.

After having lived and worked in the UK for 12 years, Tereza relocated to Germany in 2018 and now works as Head of Global External Communication, Animal Health, for Boehringer Ingelheim.

Originally a linguist, with a Master’s Degree in English and Spanish from the Masaryk University in Brno, she also currently contributes to the Czech & Slovak Leaders Magazine, Thrive Global and occasionally provides PR and communications consultancy services to organisations both in the UK and the Czech Republic.

Evelyn Bidenko - Content & Events

Born in Prague, Evelyn moved to London from Barcelona during her last year of Master’s degree in 2004. Alumni of University of Economics in Prague, as well as European Management Schools (CEMS) in Bracelona, Spain, and Instituto Tecnologico de Zacatepec, Mexico, Evelyn started her career in FX eCommerce business in JPMorgan, London. In 2007 she joined UBS Investment Bank in London as an analyst, where she is until present and manages regulatory projects. During her work she has become passionate supporter and mentor for Fintech start ups and social enterprises and she regularly contributes her time to advise and mentor them in strategy and finances. She is proud to see over 2 dozens of start ups that she was advisor to to flourish and become sustainable businesses in London and across UK.

She has undertaken 3 volunteering expeditions in 2010, 2011 and 2012 to Philippines, India and Cuba to meet and stay with local farmers and to report about any economic and social misbalances and to help create connections between the farmer and the end consumer. She finds this type of work as most rewarding and eye opening.

In her spare time she writes a blog about micro-finances and financial management. In 2014, 2015 and 2016 she lead number of workshops and trainings in City of London to empower individuals to deepen their financial knowledge, introduce sustainable investing and advise on money management strategies.

Evelyn is a mother of 2 children, she loves to relax, practise yoga and do cycle trips with her young family. She thrives at connecting people, building bridges and creating opportunities. 




Matous Michnevic - Membership & Strategic Partnerships

Born in Prague, Matous moved to London with his family in 2016. Alumni of University of Economics in Prague and Community of European Management Schools (CEMS) in Copenhagen, Matous started his professional career in management consulting with KPMG in Prague. Over eight years in consulting he worked in KPMG Amsterdam, later moving to PwC to establish Strategy consulting team for Central and Eastern Europe based out of Prague. 

After joining Mastercard Czech Republic and Slovakia office in 2013, he moved to the European Mastercard Regional office in London in 2016 to lead Merchant Loyalty across Europe. Currently he is Vice President responsible for Credit Product in Europe.

Being father of two daughters, Matous is a member of the Friends of Floreat Wandsworth Primary School Committee with responsibility for fundraising and investments.

Matous is proud holder of Prof. Dr. Jansky Silver Medal for blood donation and he keeps donating during his regular visits of Prague.

Matous is a passionate rower and is a member of London Rowing Club and Veslarsky Klub Blesk in Prague.



David Major - Treasurer

David was born in Slovakia but grew up in South-west England.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree with honours in Management Studies and Politics from the University of Leicester. During his studies, he completed various internships in London and Shanghai in corporate finance and recruitment.

After graduating, he started studying towards his Charted Accountancy qualification, where he's worked on audit and accounts assignments for a wide range of clients in London and the East Midlands. In his current role at UHY Hacker Young in London, he primarily works on audit assignments for a variety of SMEs.

In his spare time, David enjoys watching football and ice hockey and has competed in several regional level powerlifting competitions.
